Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how personal data is processed when you visit the Ocean.Contact website or contact us. We have deliberately designed this website to process as little personal data as reasonably possible.

1. Controller

Commercial Register: HRB 25943, Local Court Bonn

2. Hosting and server log files

When you access this website, technical data is necessarily transmitted between your device and the web server in order to deliver the requested website. Depending on the hosting configuration, the hosting provider may also record technical information in server log files. Such information may include:

This processing is carried out to provide the website, maintain its technical stability and security, and detect or investigate technical faults or abusive access. The legal basis for processing personal data for these purposes is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests are the reliable and secure operation of the website.

The website is hosted using services provided by dogado GmbH. Personal data may therefore be processed by the hosting provider on our behalf where this is necessary to provide and secure the hosting service.

The precise retention period for server log files is determined by the hosting configuration. We only intend to retain such data for as long as required for operation and security or as otherwise required by law.

3. Contact by email

This website does not use an online contact form. If you select an email link, your device normally opens the email application configured by you. Your message is then transmitted through the email services used by you and by us, rather than through a form operated on this website.

If you contact us by email, we process the information contained in your message, your email address and any additional information you voluntarily provide in order to respond to your enquiry. Depending on the nature of your request, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for contractual or pre-contractual communication or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for other business communication. Our legitimate interest is the efficient handling of enquiries addressed to us.

We delete or restrict such correspondence when it is no longer required for the relevant purpose, subject to statutory retention obligations and the need to retain information for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

4. Vimeo videos and two-click activation

This website includes videos hosted by Vimeo. To protect your privacy, the Vimeo player is not loaded automatically when you open the Ocean.Contact website.

Instead, a local placeholder is displayed. A connection to Vimeo is only initiated when you actively select “Load video from Vimeo”. By making that selection, you request the external video content and consent to the associated processing and transfer of data necessary to load the Vimeo player. This may include your IP address, browser/device information, the page from which the request is made and technical connection data. Vimeo may also process additional data in accordance with its own privacy practices.

The legal basis for processing initiated by your decision to load a Vimeo video is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and, where access to or storage of information on your terminal equipment is involved, Section 25(1) TDDDG.

Your decision applies only to the video that you activate during the current page visit. Ocean.Contact does not currently store a separate consent cookie for this selection. Reloading the page therefore restores the privacy placeholder, and Vimeo content will not be loaded again until you actively select it.

Vimeo's own information about its processing of personal data is available at https://vimeo.com/privacy.

5. Cookies, analytics and tracking

Ocean.Contact does not currently use Google Analytics, advertising trackers, a newsletter tracking system, an online shop, customer accounts or an online contact form.

The website does not currently set its own optional consent or analytics cookie. In particular, Vimeo content is controlled by the two-click mechanism described above rather than by a site-wide cookie banner.

Please note that once you actively load third-party content such as a Vimeo video, the third-party provider may use cookies or comparable technologies under its own responsibility and in accordance with its own privacy information.

6. Recipients and transfers to third countries

Personal data may be received by service providers where this is technically necessary to provide the website or a service that you actively request. This currently includes the hosting provider and, when the relevant external resources are requested, the providers identified above.

Some external service providers may process data outside the European Union or European Economic Area. Where such processing takes place, the respective provider is responsible for the applicable transfer safeguards within its area of responsibility. For optional Vimeo content, no connection is initiated by Ocean.Contact until you actively request the video.

7. Your rights

Where the legal requirements are met, you have rights under the GDPR including:

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the website and personal data processed in connection with it against accidental or unlawful loss, alteration, disclosure or access. The website is provided via encrypted HTTPS connections.

9. Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this privacy policy if the website, the services used on it or the applicable legal requirements change. The version published on this page is the current version.
